Richard Ambrosio, Counsel

Richard was admitted as a barrister in Gray’s Inn in 2010 and in Bermuda in 2011. He was the 2010 recipient of the Bar Council's Dame Lois Browne-Evans Pupillage Award, and he went on to do his pupillage at Carmelite Chambers in London.

He most recently worked for the Ministry of Legal Affairs / Attorney General’s Chambers where he advised public authorities, including the areas of constitutional, administrative, immigration and employment law. He advised extensively with respect to legal policy and has drafted  local legislation.

Prior to that, he worked for the non-profit organization, Centre for Justice, working in the areas of local and international human rights law.

Richard served for four years as Chairman of the Charities Commission and is very familiar with charities law. In this position, he advised the Ministry of Home Affairs on charities-related policy and helped drive sector-wide improvements in governance standards.

Richard also currently serves on the executive boards of the Portuguese Cultural Association, registered charity # 385, and of the Vasco da Gama Club.
